Gilt Anglaise Repeater Carriage Clock by Margaine. The gilt anglaise case with Corinthian columns and five thick bevelled glass viewing panels is in excellent condition. The movement strikes the hours and half hours on a blued coiled gong. The hours last struck can be repeated at will by pressing a button on top of the case. Margaine’s beehive trade mark and serial number 9403 is marked on the back plate. The bright white enamel dial has roman chapters and fine blued moonpoise hands. Margaine is one of the important French carriage clock makers. Working mainly from 22 Rue Beranger he was making fine high quality carriage clocks from about 1869 to 1914.
