Cuckoo and Quail quarter chiming wall clock. The quail chirps the ¼ hours, the cuckoo announces the hours, and the case is well carved with fruiting vines. Made in the Black Forrest area of Germany C1910. Good working order. The cuckoo clock was invented C1730 in the Black Forrest area of Germany and is still popular today, it had originated as a secondary winter occupation for the farming community. In 1850 the industry was boosted by the establishment of a clock making school in Furtwanger.
