The solid square plated French movement is by Vincenti et Cie. The back plate is stamped VINCENTI et Cie MEADILLE de ARGENT
1855 and WBK & FILS, probably a retailers stamp, there is also a crown over a capital A. The serial number 21144 is
repeated on the bezel and pendulum. The movement has a rack striking system on a blued steal coiled gong and a brocot
type fine fast-slow adjuster above the number 12. The convex bright white enamel dial has arabic chapters and 15 minute
markers with matching blued steal slim spade hands, there is a small chip to the left winding hole (1-2mm,) the dial is enclose
by a cast brass bezel and convex bevelled edge glass. The mahogany brake arch case has boxwood line inlay, solid cast brass
columns, feet and carrying handle. The brass has a good even golden colour. The back door is fretted out to let the sound
of the strike out and has its original blue cloth backing to keep the dust out. There was once a presentation plack fitted
to the front of the clock now removed. This clock is in good condition and working order. Vincenti started his factory in
Montbéliard in C1823, production ceased C1870.
